10th Ward Day of Service

Thanks to Patti Davies & her presidency for sharing their Day of Service with us!  It was a great opportunity to combine the efforts of all ages of sisters as they focused on bringing relief to those who felt the warmth of their caring.

"We had asked the sisters for fleece donations in boy prints (since that was the biggest need currently) -- and we were able to tie 16 fleece blankets for Shriner's Hospital!  Mother's, daughters, friends & neighbors all pulled together to make it happen.  It was an awesome morning full of great service and wonderful company."

so we can share how you answered President Eyring's call to service with the sisters of the River Stake)

7th Ward Day of Service

Thanks to Jolynne Ward & her presidency (7th Ward)
for sharing their Day of Service with us!

(*Note to all wards - please submit your information, photos, and details

"Move that Bus" had a whole new meaning
for members of the 7th ward last weekend.

They describe the joy that comes from serving
in their own words below:

"Our day of Relief Society Service was combined with the entire ward
for an Extreme Home Makeover day.

Our Relief Society sisters were in charge of painting the inside
of Max (and his daughter Maxine) Whitten's home.

This home was in much need of repairs.

Our ward moved everything out of their home, ripped out the carpet,
repainted the entire inside, re-carpeted and provided
new furniture and bathroom fixtures for their home.

It was a joy to see the looks on their faces when they returned to their home.

Max and Maxine Whitten live in a little white house
on 1300 West - between Chapel Ridge and Country Ridge Drive.

They are thrilled with their new home.

Max is 94 and this makeover really lifted his spirits - not to mention ours as well!"

General Relief Society Meeting Broadcast (& Dessert Buffet) - 2011

Saturday, September 24th, was the annual General Relief Society Meeting Broadcast.
The sisters of the River Stake met in the chapel for the broadcast.
If that were the only thing that took place that evening, we would have been well fed.

However, (being women) - we took the opportunity to visit with one another
and enjoyed the fruits of many sisters' labors with a fabulous dessert buffet.

The cultural hall was set up with semi-circles of chairs.
They encircled a wonderful display of homemade desserts & fresh fruit -
all provided by the sisters of the stake sharing their culinary talent.

(If any sisters who brought desserts to share that evening are willing
to provide recipe(s) - please send them to us, and we will post them for all to enjoy.
Send them to Anne's email in the sidebar above)

It's part of women's nature to pay attention to special needs.
Several sisters signed up to bring gluten-free & sugar-free desserts,
so that everyone could enjoy something sweet.

Aside from the sweet selection of food - the opportunity to laugh
and enjoy each other's company lifted our spirits and strengthened friendships.

Representatives from each ward (joyfully) served on this committee.
We love you!

As you can see, serving on the committee had it's benefits!
Taste testing was not a hardship...
Our wonderful chairman for the Dessert Buffet was Lori Lisonbee.
Under her direction, everything was orchestrated perfectly.
A big thank-you to Lori & the committee members from each ward:

1st Ward - Michelle Fonda
